I know you will still need to pan test, just looking for a starting point. I have been operating a 3020 G4 mounted on a terra gator for 3 years now, but I inherited the job and was given instructions by old timers set in their ways. I have always spread with a 60 ft spread width, fan speed of 600 for fertilizer, and 800 for ag lime.

I do change the density in the computer (New Leader DP6 ) to match the density of the product. My acres are always close and the amount of fertilizer I am to apply matches my acres applied. I do have the option to run VRT (variable rate ) and I do use this a little.

How does running variable rate affect my settings? I have read the manuals which helped a little but I am wanting to learn as much as I can about this applicator. Find the spinner rpms that get you spread width first then adjust fan position for pattern if at all possible.

Spinner rpm for width will depend on the height of the machine. Bigger tires will need slower fan speed for the same width. Fan position, fert start around 3-3/4' and work from there, Lime run all the way back. Stephen king la torre nera epub format.

You must have good blades to pan test fertilizer. If they are worn from lime application the replace the blades first. It is also important that you check the squareness of the fan frame to the bed. A safe starting swath for fertilizer is to use the density (#/cu ft ) as the swath (ft ). For spinner rpm, start at 100 rpm for each 10 ft of swath. That will keep you out of trouble with your customers.

Be very careful with urea, it will crush at too high a spinner speed and an unacceptable amount of powder will land right behind the spreader. This can not be seen without the test kit. Been there, done that.

Another potential problem is something that no spinner spreader rep will willingly tell you. The pattern will change with the load on the spinners. This means that changing the rate or vehicle speed will alter the pattern.

As the amount of fertilizer on each blade increases, it takes slightly longer for it to get off the blade. The spinner disk has now rotated a little longer and will throw the fertilizer more to the outside. The pattern will lighten up in the center and get heavier on the outside with a heavier load. A slight change will not be a problem, but the bigger the speed and rate change, the bigger the pattern change. The change in patterns with the same fertilizer mystified me for years, until I realized this. I did this yesterday and my brother drove. Too low spinner speed, the fert will just ride on the spinner longer and it will shoot it out really far, but will probably be light right behind the spinners. You need to speed the spinners up enough that you don't see any bands of fertilizer, you just see a blur. Jump to forum:.

Spreaders The New Leader G4 Series fertilizer and lime spreaders feature a patented design that allows the custom applicator to cover more acres per day with a wider, more effective swath width. In fact, the L3020G4 out-performs any other dry material applicator currently on the market. See detailed information that stands behind that claim.

The G4 design includes the patented variable rate broadcaster that broadcasts material farther, wider, and more consistently. The new design also includes predetermined settings for fertilizer, urea, lime and wet lime to simplify spread pattern testing and daily application. FEATURES: SP.6 DGPS-Ready Single Product Control This easy-to-operate system allows the operator to accurately change application rates on the go from the comfort of the cab. Patent-Pending Variable Rate Broadcaster The new dished spinner design broadcasts material farther, wider, and more consistently. The design also includes predetermined settings for fertilizer, urea, lime, and wet lime to simplify spread pattern testing and daily application.

Extra Wide Conveyor The 30' wide conveyor featured on the L3020GT helps reduce material bridging when broadcasting wet, heavy loads of lime. Inverted 'V' The inverted 'V' may be mounted in a fixed or swinging position to reduce material load on the conveyor. Belt-Over-Chain Conveyor The #4 belt-over-chain conveyor system allows uninterrupted delivery of the lightest applications of fertilizer and the heaviest loads of lime. It features a heavy-duty pintle chain with a multi-ply belt riveted (4 rivets per crossbar) to the crossbars with solid rubber sealer strips and twin-line chain oiler with clear sight gauge tubing. OPTIONS: Controls Several controls that handle both liquid and dry materials are available in lieu of the SP.6 DGPS-Ready console. These optional controls, including Mid-Tech, Raven, and Falcon, work with the Mark V control valve featured as standard equipment on the spreader.

Stainless Steel The L3020G4, just like all other New Leader spreaders comes standard in heavy-duty carbon steel construction painted with our advanced paint system. Two options exist when upgrading to a stainless steel spreader: painted 409 stainless steel and unpainted 304 stainless steel. Both provide added resistance to corrosion, but the 304 option is the highest grade stainless offered by New Leader.

Manual Hydraulics A manual hydraulic system is available in lieu of the SP.6 DGPS-Ready Product Control System. Swinging Rear Endgate The swinging rear endgate is used for high-speed no-hoist dumping. (Available in 88' wide body only.) Conveyor Chain In lieu of the #4 belt-over-chain, the #2 heavy-duty pintle chain is available with the twin line chain oiler.

In addition, a #4 hi-temp, oil resistant belt is available for spreading materials with a temperature range of -10 degrees F to 350 degrees F. (Hi-temp belt is not recommended for cold temperature application.) Extras Fenders, mud flaps, ladder, and cab shield are just some of the other options available. Paint The standard color for all New Leader products is New Leader White, but Highway Equipment Company is equipped to paint your spreader virtually any color.
