Gottlieb Haunted House Manual

I see the posts on rec. Forums everywhere folks looking for this manual, these puppies are hard to find for download. I have been able to get all games I have in pdf, but not this one. And of course this one I need the most.

Any secret location of this? I have followed the pinrepair guides, all ground mods completed, and misc other fixes. My BH boots, attract mode works with speech, I can get into test mode, I can coin up, then when I start game I get one initial sound, the lower trough kicks the ball to the coil that finally kicks it to the plunger, but it never does. It appears to lock up at that point.

No flippers or background sound, none of the switches work manually, nothing scores (works in test modes, and I can hold the U relay to make flippers and bumpers work) TIA, Ken. Dumb question time: have you loaded all three balls? It really sounds like the game is stuck because of an unexpected condition.

It will engage a new game, but won't kick out to the plunger until it sees all the balls in the trough. The situation you describe fits this to a tee, as painfully obvious as it sounds! As for a book, gottlieb development, llc. Has made it impossible to host their intellectual property online for free. Give pinball resource a call, they surely have it. I replaced all pins on A1-j6, but the ones you mention A1-J4 look good, i bent some to make sure they were contacting, and they do ohm from mpu to driver board at the boards connectors Trying to trace the wires back now. I don't mind buying the schematic, this game is a keeper for me. It's just waiting for it to get here while I am at home and in the mood/zone to fix it. Also, does anyone know of a good replacement, or where to find the A-20095 super flipper coils? The few places I looked are out. I was able to borrow a manual, and found that I had a whole row out on the switch matrix (outhole, ball kicker hole, 3rd position ball return trough, and right return rollover) I had pulse on strobe and return at points given (A1-J6 pin 15 return 4 and A1-J6 0-3 strobe) I knew at that point it was on the mpu, so I traced it to z14 pin 9 were it did not strobe. The culprit was a socketed chip that the trace was not contacting on the top solder side hidden pretty well under the socket.

Finally i can enjoy this awesome game, I have never spent so much time on any game, but I have learned so much from this machine, my second pinball! Hope this info helps someone in the future. Other words of advise, I had to remove the reset chip to get it to boot, had no idea it didn't need that chip for the longest time. No matter what, buy the manual for this game, it would have saved me DAYS of labor. I really like it, however, this is the first time I have played it in 25 years, and I don't even have it finished. I completely disassembled the lower playfield, gave it a tuneup, new rubbers and waxed up good.

I have not touched the top which is really nasty, but I went ahead and played it for a few minutes, I couldn't help it. It is very fun, lower is fast playing, sounds are cool. I am not exaggerating, I have spent the last two weeks every night (sometimes until 4am)with this thing doing all the recommended mods, and troubleshooting. It has been frustrating and challenging.

The first time you hear it talk is very rewarding. (But of course it sounded like a little girl and spoke very fast at first, it was very funny) I messed with the speech pots on sound board and finally got it talking right. I was determined to repair it, I am not great on schematics, but i managed to figure out the matrix problem. Along the way, I changed 4 coils, rebuilt the power supply, a few caps and resistors. The driver board on this thing looks like it is still on fire, but it works great now that I changed a few things. If you get one at a good price, you won't be sorry. I got this one for $375, had a 2 hr drive to get it, and I have spent $250ish on it for new parts.

I would start with a newer pin if you have the chance though. BH is an awesome game! Well worth your trouble.

Haunted House Pinball Manual

Probably the best Gottlieb, period. It might not make a good first pin for a novice because of complex repair issues. I've been lucky and haven't had a single problem since I purchased mine at the beginning of August.

Gottlieb Haunted House Schematic

I just had a large Halloween party where I also hosted the local pin league and BH was the most played pin throughout the night. It's great fun for both pinheads and novices. I had a post before I picked it up where I was trying to decide between this one and Haunted House. I've since had a chance to play HH extensively and I feel this IS the superior pin. HH is super sweet, but the rules are shallow and at times I had balls that lasted so long I started to daydream!

Both games are very visually appealing, but you'll keep coming back for the multiball challenge in BH!
