Hi all, I am a newbe, so sorry if my question to this forum might be totally misplaced. What I have got: I go an ATMEL 89C51CC01UA-IM controlling a device.
I also have a Windows-Software communicating with the controller via RS232 with my own protocoll. What I want to do: I want to flash the microcontroller from within the Windows-Software.
I found an ATMEL Paper (ANM088) 'In-System Programming - Serial Protocol Stack for C51 Products' which explains the protocol. My problem is, I don't understand too much of this paper. Can some1 help me? Maybe some1 has delat with the same problem! Thanks, Joerg.
Hi Joerg, This forum is meant for the Atmel AVR's but we are a friendly lot here so here goes. The best thing to get is a download called FLIP from the 8051 software section of the Atmel website. It is an ISP programming tool for the Atmel 8051 devices, including the CAN 8051. The devices you have is an 8051 based CAN chip with on board UART bootloader. When you have the software select the device and then select UART as the communications port. Then you can load in your program binary and download it to the chip.
Flip is meant as a windows standalone program but you can control it using a pre-written script so you can probably integrate it with your own system, but Ive never done that so I cannot help there. The manual is quite good.
